FPL Named One of Atlantic Canada’s Top Employers for 2026

Lincoln, NB — March 2026: Forest Protection Limited (FPL) has been named one of Atlantic Canada’s Top Employers for 2026, a distinction awarded by Mediacorp Canada Inc. as part of its annual Canada’s Top 100 Employers program.

This recognition highlights employers across the four Atlantic provinces that demonstrate leadership in creating strong, sustainable workplaces. Winners are evaluated across eight criteria, including workplace culture, health and family benefits, training and development, and community involvement.

Some of the reasons FPL was selected:

  • FPL incorporates employee feedback when determining which charitable initiatives will receive the organization’s support, and encourages employees to lend a helping hand in the community with three paid days off to volunteer per year
  • FPL helps employees prepare for the longer term with retirement planning assistance along with a defined contribution pension plan
  • FPL supports new parents with generous maternity and parental leave top-up payments, to 75 per cent of salary for 50 weeks for new mothers and to 75 per cent of salary for 35 weeks for fathers and adoptive parents

For FPL, the recognition reflects a long-standing commitment to building a workplace where safety, trust, and shared purpose are embedded into everyday operations. Serving Atlantic Canada through aerial firefighting and forest health services, FPL’s work is demanding and often carried out under high-pressure conditions, making a strong, people-first culture essential.

“Recognition like this doesn’t happen by chance, it’s built season by season, decision by decision,” says Nadia Morrison, Chief Financial Officer at Forest Protection Limited. “It reflects how we operate when the pressure is highest and how seriously we take our responsibility to our people.”

At FPL, being a top employer goes beyond surface-level perks. The organization focuses on offering relevant compensation and benefits, maintaining a safe and respectful work environment, and supporting employees through training, development, and clear career pathways. Safety is a foundational value, reinforced through rigorous training, open communication, and a culture where employees are empowered to speak up and look out for one another.

Being named an Atlantic Canada’s Top Employer is a shared achievement that belongs to every employee who contributes to FPL’s mission of protecting forests, communities, and natural resources.

FPL looks ahead to the coming year with confidence and momentum, continuing to invest in its people and the culture that makes this work possible, and protecting what matters most.
